The successful voyage of St. Albert's Institute of Teacher Education started 50 years back and that became an important milestone in the history of Archdiocese of Verapoly - an Archdiocese which has a track record of centuries serving in the field of education.
The genesis of this prestigious institution was in the year 1963. The institution was known as St. Albert's Basic Training School till its decennial.
Archdiocese of Verapoly has always been a centre of excellence in providing education. It has several schools and colleges under its wings that provide high quality value based education. But the Archdiocese lacked a professional institution that would mould teachers. This inadequacy was solved with the continuous efforts and blessings of our founder patron, the Most Reverent Dr. Joseph
Attipetty, late Archbishop and late Rev. Fr. Joseph Chennat. The institute started functioning on 4th June 1963. The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil is the present patron of St. Albert's Institute of Teacher
Education.
The institution is attaining greater glory under the effective leadership of
Adv. Rev Fr. Jayan Payyappilly, the General Manager of Corporate Educational Agency, Verapoly. Mrs.
Gisha Lawrance is the present principal of this institute.
Kerala State Government changed TTC course name as Diploma in Education (D.Ed) in the year 2013-14. The curriculum for teacher Education at the elementary level, prepared on the basis of suggestions by NCTE came into being on Dec
1st 2018. Later, the name of the course D.Ed (Diploma in Education ) has changed as
D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) from the academic year 2018-19. The curriculum is revised in accordance with the norms of
NCTE.
St. Albert's TTI established in 1963, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Chennat as its first Manager during its strenuous period of infancy and succeeded in making it a full fledged pioneering temple of teacher education. The fast and enviable progress of the institution was attained due to the personal holiness and inexhaustible energies of Rev. Fr. C. P
